Tragique découverte de dauphins échoués sur la plage en Charente-Maritime

C’est avec tristesse que l’on a découvert ce dimanche 14 janvier, une dizaine de dauphins échoués sur les plages de la Charente-Maritime, entre les plages de Nieul-sur-Mer et de La Tremblade. Ce phénomène malheureusement de plus en plus récurrent sur la côte Atlantique.

L’état des cétacés était trop déplorable lorsqu’ils ont été retrouvés pour réaliser une autopsie, il est donc difficile de dire avec certitude ce qui leur est arrivé. Selon des scientifiques et des militants écologistes, cette augmentation de mortalité chez les cétacés serait due à la pêche pélagique. En seulement 15 jours, 16 cétacés ont été retrouvés morts sur les côtes de Nouvelle-Aquitaine et plus de 136 sur toute la côte Atlantique.

Cette situation préoccupante a conduit plusieurs associations à réclamer l’interdiction de cette pratique qui est liée au décès de nombreux dauphins qui sont accidentellement pris dans les filets et qui finissent par s’échouer sur les côtes.

L’association Sea Shepherd France a porté plainte contre X et a dénoncé cette pratique. L’association réclame son interdiction temporaire.

L’observatoire du CNRS basé à La Rochelle estime que entre 5 000 à 10 000 dauphins sont tués chaque année accidentellement en raison de la pêche pélagique dans le Golfe de Gascogne. Cette perte de vie marine est un rappel douloureux de l’impact de l’activité humaine sur l’environnement.
