Actu.fr reported that the cat of Magali Lepennetier's daughter, a resident of Sourdeval (Manche), was hit by a pellet gun bullet on Tuesday 21 February. The cat was taken to a vet in Mortain for treatment, including X-rays, and it was confirmed that the cat had been shot.
"At first I didn't see the second wound. It was the next day that I realised it. When I went back to the vet, he told me that he had a similar case in Chérencé-le-Roussel. He is on antibiotics, treatment twice a day. Since then, we help him to eat. He doesn't go outside anymore. He sleeps all the time. He is not well. He is afraid," Magali Lepennetier told Actu.fr.
Magali Lepennetier and her family are in total confusion. "Our cat is very nice, adorable. It hurts to see him like this. He is our ray of sunshine", she confides. She now wants to make people aware of the protection of animals and their well-being. With this in mind, she decided to lodge a complaint against X on 2 March at the Mortain gendarmerie.
It was my father who told me to go and do it. Maybe there are others. I want to say that people are not alone in this situation.
Magali Lepennetier
Magali Lepennetier's veterinarian informed her that he had been contacted by other people about similar cases.
Magali Lepennetier, Plume's owner, points out: "If only one pellet had hit my cat, I would have thought it was a bad shot from someone playing with a pellet gun, although we live in the heart of a housing estate. What if it was a child who had been shot? I don't understand how people can attack animals with such malice.
