Rafiki avait autour de 25 ans et était le chef d’un groupe de 17 gorilles de montagne vivant dans le parc national Bwindi Impenetrable. Il ne reste plus qu’un millier de singes de cette espèce selon l’Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).
