A man shot his neighbour's cat who had wandered into his garden, causing his two dogs to become agitated. The cruelty occurred on Thursday afternoon, 20 April, in Lavelanet-de-Comminges, a village about 50 km southwest of Toulouse, reports La Dépêche du Midi.
The sound of the gunshot alarmed the neighbours, and the police quickly identified a 19-year-old man, a tenant of a neighbouring house, as the perpetrator. The next day, he was given a suspended sentence of four months in prison, fined 1,800 euros, and banned from owning animals.
However, the case does not end there. During the search of the individual's home, investigators discovered an impressive arsenal of firearms, including some 40 weapons, including a rifle with a scope and a shotgun. A second investigation was opened to determine the origin of these firearms.
