A dog rescued from the rubble after 23 days following the earthquakes in Turkey

Aleks, un chien aux yeux clairs, n’est pas un miraculé ordinaire. Il a été retrouvé 23 jours après le séisme qui a détruit Antakya, une grande ville du sud de la Turquie. Le chien était piégé sous les plaques de béton qui s’étaient effondrées en formant un puits après la secousse de magnitude 7,8 qui a eu lieu le 6 février peu après 4 heures du matin. Les images de son sauvetage, diffusées par l’agence de presse turque DHA, montrent la difficulté de l’opération.

Murat Arici, le propriétaire du chien, a été alerté par les pleurs de son animal et a rapidement informé les secours de la municipalité de Konya, dans le centre de la Turquie. Dans la vidéo du sauvetage, on peut entendre les secouristes appeler le chien « Aleks » et l’encourager à se libérer. Après une opération difficile, les secouristes ont finalement réussi à sauver le grand chien, qui semblait être en bonne santé malgré son apparence hirsute. Aleks a ensuite été confié à l’association de protection des animaux Haytap pour un examen médical avant d’être remis à son propriétaire. Les secouristes ont salué leur réussite en criant « Bien joué, fiston ».

Plusieurs animaux ont été sauvés

Des centaines d’animaux, tels que des chats, des chiens, des oiseaux, des lapins, des vaches et des moutons, ont été sauvés par les secouristes dans les immeubles dévastés du sud de la Turquie. Depuis lors, les recherches ont été officiellement suspendues dans neuf des onze provinces touchées, à l’exception de Hatay et Kahramanmaras, où l’épicentre se trouvait.

Le séisme, considéré comme la pire catastrophe jamais connue en Turquie moderne, a causé la mort de plus de 45 000 personnes et plus de 5 000 autres en Syrie voisine. Il a également dévasté des centaines de milliers de bâtiments.
