According to Actu.frThe owner of land located in Saint-Denis-le-Ferment is outraged by the discovery of two dead horses in an advanced state of decomposition. These animals would have been neglected for at least three weeks, and the owner filed a complaint as soon as she became aware of it.
She is now trying to identify the person responsible for this abandonment and animal abuse. Both horses died of hunger and thirst: one was found in a stall, while the other was in a meadow with the rib cage already eaten away by putrefaction.
It seems that these horses had already been spotted sick and without care a few months ago. The situation is complex, as the owner of the land has been involved in a lawsuit with the main tenant of her parcel for the past 15 years. This tenant has sublet the land to a third party, who is responsible for the horses.
The person in question, contacted by phone, did not deny his responsibility, but described the case as "incredible" without giving further details. She promised to call back Actu.fr to discuss the matter, but did not keep her promise.
The mayor of Saint-Denis-le-Ferment, Nathalie Thebault, informed the services of the DDPP (Direction départementale de la protection des populations) and the gendarmerie of the situation three weeks ago. The Gendarmerie Company of Andelys confirms that an investigation is underway. However, the rendering services do not seem to have intervened yet, since the carcass of the dead horse in the meadow was seen recently.
