Vanille, a young cat from the Sanvic district, in Le Havre, received six lead bullets on Tuesday 12 May 2020. Guillaume, her owner, testifies of his incomprehension in front of this gesture.
"She is between life and deathThe vet told us she had a 50/50 chance of surviving. In front of Vanille, her little cat Guillaume confides that he "doesn't understand" what could have happened to his one-year-old dog, who can hardly stand up from her basket and is dragging her injured paw.
Usually she meows, she fusses, but she wasn't moving," he says. At first, we thought she'd been hit by a car. Right away, we took her to the vet, who took an X-ray to see what organs were affected."
The result of these examinations falls in the stride: the cat has six pellets in the body. What I don't understand is that she should have been afraid and run away at the first shot," wonders Guillaume. But now, six bullets, what does that mean? That they held her so she wouldn't leave?"
If the circumstances of what happened are difficult to determine, the consequences for the feline are very clear. "She has one leg completely out of action, and the vet could only find two of the bullet holes. Either way, it's inoperable; we'll just have to wait and see how she gets through the next few days."
