[Updated Friday, March 3, 2023] : Levis, the retired police dog, has been adopted in Valencia! Read more

Levis, a Malinois police dog, will be eight years old in April. He has been trained to detect drugs and money and has spent his entire career at the Valence canine brigade in the Drôme. Like all law enforcement personnel, he is eligible for retirement, and Bruno Fantin, chief of staff of the Drôme, says their dogs never work more than seven to eight years. Although the dog handlers of the canine brigade have pets at home, they cannot adopt Levis, as is often done at the end of the service. However, they refuse to leave him in a shelter, reports France bleu.

The perfect partner for a family

Although he is a police dog, Levis was never trained to attack. He was trained for research and has a docile temperament, as Bruno Fantin confirms to France Bleu: " He is a very good dog, very sweet and he is not afraid of humans at all. He is always in contact with humans and he has no problem with children. "

So, the police are looking for a family or a person who would be interested in adopting Levis and taking care of him. Bruno Fantin explains: " He needs a lot of attention because he is a dog that is very close to his owner and he needs to go for walks every day. That's why we prefer to give him good care." . If you are interested, you can contact the Valence police station at 04 75 82 22 22.
