Employees of the Chablais SPA in Haute-Savoie denounce cruelty to animals and unsanitary conditions in the shelter

Le Dauphiné Libéré a rapporté que plus de dix employés et bénévoles de la SPA du Chablais, située à Thonon-les-Bains en Haute-Savoie, ont signalé plusieurs problèmes préoccupants dans le refuge, notamment des cas de maltraitance animale et des problèmes d’hygiène. Bien que ces allégations soient récentes, une bénévole avait déjà signalé des problèmes de gestion défaillante de l’établissement en 2022 et avait soumis un dossier à la Direction départementale de la protection des populations (DDPP).

D’après plusieurs témoignages, les locaux où sont hébergés les animaux et travaillent les employés seraient inappropriés, insalubres et même dangereux. En effet, il y aurait des inondations régulières, des fils électriques qui pendent ainsi que des problèmes d’isolation.

Il y a des décès chaque semaine

La plupart des témoignages ont mis en lumière la chatterie sauvage, un refuge où seraient maintenus entre 50 et 80 chats dans des conditions désolantes, d’après une employée. Les chats souffriraient de nombreuses maladies et ne recevraient aucun traitement, entraînant des décès toutes les semaines. Pire encore, il semblerait que certains chats décédés soient jetés directement à la poubelle.

Lorsqu’elle a été contactée par Le Dauphiné Libéré, la présidente de l’établissement a rejeté toutes les accusations, à l’exception de l’état vétuste des locaux. Elle a qualifié ces allégations d’attaques « profondément injustes » et a déclaré avoir porté plainte.
