According to an article in Center Presse AveyronTwo dogs living in appalling conditions in Villefranche-de-Rouergue were saved last weekend thanks to the joint action of the gendarmes, the Rodez SPA and a dog handler from the Cahors (Lot) dog squad.
The two abused animals were deprived of food and water and were infested with fleas. The Ruthenian shelter said they have already cleaned the dogs and will be administering internal and external parasite treatments.
"Yana and Goliath, your hell is over"
The rescued dog is named Yana, and the male is named Goliath. Photos from the shelter show that the house where the two dogs lived was in very bad condition, with feces everywhere. The shelter now assures that they are in good hands, and that they will do everything to offer them the comfort they were deprived of.
Fortunately, the dogs are not fearful and accept care without issue. "Yana and Goliath, your hell is over," says the shelter. The SPA expresses its indignation at such situations and stresses that no one should allow animals to live in such conditions.
In January 2023, the SPA and the gendarmerie had already rescued nine dogs left behind and chained in a house in Alrance, where several cats and a goat with a broken leg had also been rescued afterwards. As with the Alrance survivors, Yana and Goliath will gradually recover at the SPA before waiting for a new family to offer them a happy and peaceful life.
